Shopping & Dining

River Heights consists of quiet residential streets running North-South, with four shopping and dining corridors running East-West (Academy Road, Corydon Avenue, Grant Avenue and Taylor Avenue).

Academy Road is a vibrant street that features everything that makes a community great, starting with fantastic local restaurants - Pizzeria Gusto, Leopold’s Tavern and Fusion Grill are some of our favourites. Look no further than GJ Andrews for wine, groceries, butcher and bakery. Academy Road also features loads of other shops and services.

Next up is Corydon Avenue, Winnipeg’s own “Little Italy,” which is positively teeming with fantastic spots to dine and shop. The east end of Corydon is more commonly considered to be in Crescentwood — but is still a totally reasonable walk from most of River Heights, and people love having that nightlife so close by.

The west end of Corydon in River Heights also has loads to offer— Mona Lisa Ristorante Italiano and Bonfire Bistro are both phenomenal date night spots and you cannot beat the Falafel Place or Bernstein’s Deli for breakfast or lunch.

A little further south and you’re on Grant Avenue where the dining options continue! Stella’s, Original Joe’s plus loads of shopping including Superstore and everything found in the Grant Park Mall.

Located just on the southern edge of the area along Taylor Avenue is a great place for shopping and groceries. You can find a rapidly developing shopping centre which offers a Sobeys, Starbucks, pet store, Boston Pizza, Oh Doughnuts (a local favourite), Walmart and lots more!

Just further down the road from there is a local shop called La Grotta & Piazza Di Nardi which is an amazing Italian market offering fresh baked goods, grocery items, a great deli, plus delicious authentic Italian pizza!
