RidgeWood West offers dozens of options for all your shopping needs. On the southwest edge of the area is the brand new Outlet Collection Winnipeg which features all your clothing, home decor and fast-food needs including the city’s only IKEA!

Grocery stores nearby include Safeway and No Frills. Convenient banks found in the area include RBC, BMO and TD Canada Trust along with convenience stores for your late night snacking needs and ATM’s. There are plenty of local restaurants including Taverna Rodos which serves up traditional Greek cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If your a Thai food lover, a favorite is Iyara Thai Restaurant - we recommend their thai crab puffs and the green curry! Capital Grill & Bar is a Moore Group favourite offering casual comfort food available for dining in and take out. For a fine dining experience, the Gates on Roblin is an excellent choice and is also a popular wedding banquet facility.

 
Schools

Connected to the Pembina trails school division with schools available within 4 km for all grades and offering both English and French immersion programs all the way up to high school — plus private schools and even post-secondary education at Canadian Mennonite University.

RidgeWood West area elementary & middle schools include: Beaver Lodge School K-5 (English), Westdale School 6-8 (English), Ècole Dieppe (grades K-4, French immersion), Ècole Charleswood (Grades 5-8, French immersion & Grades 6-8, English).

Before and After School programs are also available for the elementary and middle schools through Right at School.

High schools include: École Secondaire Oak Park High School (Grades 9-12, French immersion and English), and St Paul’s High School (Grades 9-12, private Catholic high school).

Parks & Recreation

Although RidgeWood West is a relatively new development, there are lots of parks, trails and greenspaces throughout the community. Residents can enjoy walking, biking, ice skating, sports and more right in their backyard! Westdale Community Center offers sports and recreation programs and the hall can be rented for your next event!

The Michael Komenda Memorial Skate Park is a great place for kids looking for a place to skateboard and BMX. Springers Gymnastics is just a stone’s throw away offering a 1300 square feet facility for both recreational and competitive gymnastics.

Proximity to the rugged nature of the 700 acres Assiniboine Forest is a huge advantage offered by life in Charleswood. Just across the street is Assiniboine Park offering another 1100 acres of park, including 400 acres of English Gardens, beautiful walking trails, The Zoo, Pavilion Art Gallery, and Nature Playground.

Winnipeg’s newest attraction is The Leaf which an outdoor/indoor diversity gardens. It is also a wedding and conference center and is home to the Gather Craft Kitchen & Bar.

Skip to the other side of Wilkes, and you’re at Fort Whyte Alive, another enormous nature preserve, including an interpretive centre with a Bison reserve, hiking trails, educational programs, day camps, and a shop with locally made products!

RidgeWood West is a Qualico community that has been under development since 2016 and offers a handful of builders - including premium builders such as Broadview & Kensington Homes and custom builders like Maric Homes & Artista Homes.

As a family-oriented area, the typical home in RidgeWood West is probably a 2000 sqft 4 bedroom/3 bathroom home with a good sized back yard and deck, coming in around $600-$650k depending on the finishing work and whether or not the basement is developed or not. That being said, there are still lots of choices for different sizes and price points ranging from $500,000 for a 1200 sqft bungalow to $1.15M for a 2700 sq ft 2 storey home on the lake.
