Scott Moore's Journey to Real Estate
BY Scott Moore, Group Leader & Realtor | July 3, 2026If we haven't met yet or if it's been a while since we last connected, I thought it would be a good time to re-introduce myself and share a little about how I got here.
Real estate isn't just my profession. It's been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Real Estate Runs in the Family
I was born in Northern Ontario and grew up surrounded by the world of sales and real estate. My grandfather, Reginald Moore, owned and managed apartment buildings, while my father, Douglas Moore, was also heavily involved in real estate.
Some of my earliest memories are of accompanying my grandfather as he collected rent, met with tenants, and managed his properties. I listened closely as he shared stories about acquiring buildings, improving them, and creating better living experiences for the people who called them home.
Those experiences left a lasting impression on me. Long before I knew what career I would pursue, I understood the value of hard work, relationships, and investing in people.
In many ways, sales and real estate are simply in my DNA.
Learning the Art of Sales
Before entering real estate, I built my career in the automotive industry.
I quickly advanced into management roles and became Sales Manager for a large dealership group in the Niagara region. During that time, I had the privilege of leading a team that earned the prestigious GM Optimum Used Car Dealership of Canada award.
That success led to another opportunity. I was recruited to manage North York Chevrolet, one of Canada's largest automotive dealerships.
The automotive industry taught me invaluable lessons about leadership, negotiation, customer service, and building trust. Those skills continue to serve my clients every day.
Finding My True Calling
Despite the success I was experiencing, I realized something was missing.
After 14 months managing one of Toronto's top-performing GM Optimum dealerships, it became clear that while I enjoyed sales, my true passion was real estate.
Determined to pursue that passion, I moved to Vancouver and completed the Real Estate Trading Services program through UBC's Sauder School of Business.
Living and working in Vancouver immersed me in one of Canada's most dynamic real estate markets and provided invaluable experience that helped shape the professional I am today.
Building a Life in Winnipeg
While living in British Columbia, I met my wife, who is originally from Winnipeg.
After welcoming our first son, we began thinking differently about what mattered most. Family became our priority and we wanted to be closer to the people who meant the most to us.
That decision brought us to Winnipeg.
Since then, we've built a wonderful life here, raising our three sons and becoming deeply connected to this incredible community. Winnipeg quickly became more than a place to live. It became home.
Building a Business Based on Relationships
When I launched my real estate practice in Manitoba, I focused on doing things the right way by putting clients first, providing honest advice, and delivering exceptional service.
After several successful years, I earned my first Gold Medallion Award in 2015, one of the highest honours available to REALTORS® in Manitoba.
As the business continued to grow, it became clear that I couldn't do it alone.
In 2016, The Moore Group was born.
What started as a growing real estate practice evolved into a team of talented professionals who share the same commitment to client service, integrity, and results.
Today
Today, I have the privilege of leading The Moore Group alongside an incredible team of dedicated professionals.
Looking back, every step of the journey has helped shape the way I serve my clients today. From collecting rent with my grandfather, to managing automotive dealerships, to studying real estate in Vancouver, and ultimately building a business here in Winnipeg, each experience has played an important role.
Real estate is about much more than buying and selling homes. It's about helping people through some of life's biggest decisions, building lasting relationships, and helping families create the future they envision.
I'm grateful to have been part of so many of those journeys, and I look forward to being part of many more.
If you're thinking about buying, selling, building, or simply have questions about the Winnipeg real estate market, I'd love the opportunity to connect.
