The Path That Led Stephanie to Real Estate

BY Stephanie Baron, Realtor | July 31, 2026

If we haven't met yet, I thought it would be a good time to re-introduce myself and share a little about the path that brought me to real estate.

Looking back, many of the experiences that shaped my career happened long before I ever became a REALTOR®. The lessons I learned through sports, business, leadership, and entrepreneurship all helped prepare me for the career I have today.

Growing Up with Competition and Entrepreneurship

I was born and raised in Manitoba in a family of entrepreneurs. From a young age, I was surrounded by people who understood the value of hard work, accountability, and dedication.

I was also heavily involved in competitive sports, particularly figure skating and volleyball. Competing at a high level taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of showing up prepared.

The combination of athletics and growing up in an entrepreneurial family set a high standard for me. It taught me that success is earned through commitment, consistency, and a willingness to keep improving.

Building a Foundation in Business

After graduating from high school, I headed to Alberta to pursue a business diploma while playing volleyball on scholarship.

The experience gave me the opportunity to further develop my business knowledge while continuing to compete in a sport I loved.

After completing my studies, I returned to Manitoba and joined my family's restaurant business in a management role.

Anyone who has worked in the restaurant industry knows it can be demanding. Every day presents new challenges, and success depends on strong leadership, organization, and the ability to solve problems quickly.

I enjoyed the responsibility and the opportunity to help lead a business, but I also knew there was another path I wanted to pursue.

Discovering My Passion for Negotiation and Leadership

My next step took me into the fashion industry, where I worked my way into a Merchandising Manager position focused on product development and design.

The role allowed me to combine creativity with business strategy. I worked closely with suppliers, managed product decisions, and negotiated pricing and contracts.

What surprised me most was how much I enjoyed the negotiation side of the business.

I discovered that I genuinely enjoyed building relationships, finding solutions, and creating outcomes that worked for everyone involved. Those experiences would later become some of the most valuable skills I bring to my clients today.

Pursuing the Career I Always Envisioned

While I enjoyed the opportunities and growth each role provided, I always knew real estate was in the back of my mind.

Even during business school, I imagined that one day I would build a career in the real estate industry.

Eventually, the timing felt right.

I was drawn to real estate because of my interest in design, architecture, and homes. But what truly confirmed I was on the right path was realizing how many of my previous experiences prepared me for this profession.

Building relationships, negotiating effectively, solving problems, and maintaining a strong commitment to success had been consistent themes throughout my career.

Real estate allowed me to bring all of those strengths together.

Finding My Place at The Moore Group

One of the things I quickly learned about real estate is that great results are rarely achieved alone.

Having the opportunity to join The Moore Group has allowed me to work alongside talented professionals who share the same commitment to client service, integrity, and professionalism.

Being a REALTOR® has turned out to be exactly the career I hoped it would be, and I am proud to be part of a team that is dedicated to helping clients achieve their goals.

Life Beyond Real Estate

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, John.

We were married in 2014 and share a passion for travel and experiencing different cultures. One of the things we love most about travelling is seeing how people live, what they value, and how they connect with one another.

Some of our favourite memories were made during a trip to France and Spain, and Bali remains high on our travel wish list.

Travel has taught me to appreciate different perspectives and embrace new experiences, lessons that carry over into both my personal life and my work with clients.

Looking Ahead

Real estate combines so many of the things I love: building relationships, helping people, negotiating solutions, and guiding clients through important life decisions.

Whether you're buying your first home, selling a property, or planning your next move, I am committed to providing the support, knowledge, and guidance you need throughout the process.
