If you are looking to figure out which school division you are in, find out here.

Home Schooling

Home Schooling: Parents can choose to educate their children at home, following provincial guidelines and registering through Manitoba Education. Information can be found at here.

French Eduction

Single-Track French (DSFM): The Division scolaire franco-manitobaine is a public school division that provides fully French-language education across Manitoba, serving students whose first language or primary home language is French.

Hockey Academies

For families with kids who are passionate about hockey, there are a number of hockey academies where students can focus on developing their skills while attending school; three that I’m familiar with are: Starbuck Hockey Academy (in Starbuck), Churchill Hockey Academy (in Winnipeg), and RINK Hockey Academy (in Oak Bluff off McGillivray).

These academies are designed for middle school and high school students and allow kids to combine their education with regular on-ice and off-ice hockey development. This can be a good option for players who are looking for more training or enjoy being on the ice during the day.

Bilingual Programming

There are a variety of non-English/French bilingual programs in Manitoba. These vary by school division and are offered within the public education system.

Winnipeg School Division offers: Cree, Filipino, Ukrainian, Hebrew, Ojibwe and Spanish

Seven Oaks School Division offers: Filipino, Ojibwe, Punjabi, and Ukrainian

River East Transcona School Division offers: German and Ukrainian

As you can see, Manitoba offers a variety of private and alternative education options for students and families. It is best to consult with individual schools for up-to date information and if there are any other questions, send me an email at: scott@themooregroup.ca
