9th Annual Food Drive in support of William Whyte School
2025 marks our 9th year of collecting non-perishable food items for William Whyte School. So, we are calling on all our friends, family, business associates and anyone alike to support.
William Whyte School provides their kids with a hot breakfast every school day. When they notice that a child isn't bringing lunch to school, or returning to school after going home for lunch not having eaten, they provide lunch as well. They also send lunch home to any student who knows there's nothing at home in the cupboard and food hampers to support students and their families over the winter break.
We first found out about the need for donations for this breakfast program back in 2017 in an article in the Free Press, reporting that the school’s need for food had already outstripped their funding by the middle of November. Sending out an urgent plea for food, we knew we wanted to help.
Our first year was an eye opener as we delivered the car loads of food to the school and it was truly a gift for us to be able to see and help our community.
We have continued stocking their shelves as we now head into our 9th year and usually deliver about 4-6 carloads of donations each year thanks to this Food Drive.
